AMD Party at San Jose Arena, June 10, 2000 - When Jerry Sanders ran AMD the company would throw an enormous party after a particularly profitable year. In 2000 AMD had a good year and threw a party at the San Jose Arena (and at a similar venue in Austin, TX). Headlining the event was a concert by Faith Hill (Lyle Lovett in Austin). I invited my sister and parents to the event. Never before (nor since) have I seen so much feasting, in particular many cakes and mountains of iced prawns. Unfortunately, I only took two photos of the event. Those days are long gone.
- Selling the Buick, April 12, 2000 - These are the last photos I took of the Buick when I sold it to a young woman who came with her parents to pick it up from me. It was a bittersweet occasion as I had practically grown up in that car. My parents bought it new in 1971 when I was seven years old. Later in college I drove that car many miles, including my only major collision followed by a lengthy rebuild process. But I had recently bought a van to carry my Gold Rush and didn't need two cars. The van also got better gas mileage (23 vs 13 mpg). The young woman (whose name escapes me) seemed happy to get it. We settled on $1250. I hope she got many more miles out of it.
