I got past this by leaning the bike against the inside of the gate, by crawling through the opening without any barbed wire (behind my head in the image), then by leaning over the gate and hoisting my bike over it in one maneuver. It helps to be tall as the top of the gate is as high as the bottom of my rib cage. The next time I think I'll try the main road, even though it's longer and appears to pass closer to signs of human habitation.
