Taft Point and Sentinel Dome, June 23, 1978 - Four of us, Kay, David, Bill, and Laura, hiked from the Sentinel Dome Trailhead on Glacier Point Road to Taft Point, stopping at The Fissures along the way. Kay didn't want to go near the railing, but I peeked over. It's one of the more dizzying vistas in Yosemite as the point is overhung, there being nothing but air below for the first 800 feet down.
After enjoying the view we returned up the trail and then took the Pohono Trail across Sentinel Creek and then up Sentinel Dome before returning to the car.
Glacier Point, June 23, 1978 - Four of us stopped at Washburn Point (where all of the photos were took) and enjoyed views of Half Dome, Ililouette Fall, and the Merced Range in southern Yosemite. I'm sure we visited Glacier Point, but no photos of that have yet been found.
Nevada Fall, June 24, 1978 - Four of us, David, Kay, Bill, and Laura, hiked from Happy Isles up the John Muir Trail to the top of Nevada Fall. We missed Vernal Fall (except from afar) as the high snowmelt this year would have made the hike a cold, soaking experience. Weather was nice but not warm enough for a complete drenching. We only had rain slickers/windbreakers, not full rain suits.
We lingered next to a calm section of the Merced River above the Fall and enjoyed lunch before returning the same way down the John Muir Trail.
Yosemite Valley, June 24, 1978 - After our hike up Nevada Fall we took a driving tour of Yosemite Valley, capturing photos of many waterfalls before heading to dinner at the Yosemite Lodge Cafeteria.
Tioga Road, June 25, 1978 - Four of us, David, Kay, Bill, and Laura, spent the day driving over Tioga Pass and down into Lee Vining Canyon and back. We didn't do much hiking other than to walk to the edges of creeks or vistas near the road.
