The foreground view is of Butano State Park. Olmo Trail runs on top of the near ridge. The ridges in the middle distance are part of Big Basin. Today, due to a freak of the weather (atmospheric refraction caused by hot dry air aloft, cool, damp air near sea level), we can see the Santa Lucia Mountains of the Los Padres Wilderness as if Monterey Bay were foreshortened by many miles. The sharp peak in the distance is Mt. Carmel (4417ft), and off to the right is the Monterey Peninsula.
