(l to r): From the broad summit of Black Mountain (2800ft) one can see in the distance, Mission Peak (2517ft) and Mt. Allison (2658ft) just to the right of the rightmost radio antenna. To the right is a more distant ridge along which lie another Black Mtn. (3951ft) and Mt. Day (3869ft). Moving to the right we see Mt. Hamilton (4210ft) and Mt. Isabel (4230ft). Fog and haze lie over the Santa Clara Valley. Near at hand we see the lower Peak 2667 to the southeast along Montebello Ridge. In the distance the high point is Mt. Umunhum (3486ft). Moving to the right we see the lower El Sereno Ridge, and to its right the deep cleft in the hills that marks the passage of the San Andreas Fault. To the right of the fault lies Skyline Ridge, the highpoint of which is Mt. Bielawski (3231ft). The road is Montebello Rd., and the canyon below is Stevens Canyon. In the distance lies Ben Lomond Mountain. Further to the right in the distance is Butano Ridge. Behind the two hikers we see Russian Ridge, and furthest to the right in the distance we see Kings Mountain. Not a mountain bike is to be seen.
