Don't try this on thin road tires unless you carry spares.
Many dirt sections of Summit Road were covered with the stuff. It was impossible to thread a path to avoid rolling over some of the stones, or firing them sideways as the tire slid over the side of a stone. The latter can cut tire sidewalls.
